New York’s most expensive gym is apparently Equinox VIP Sports Club. I’ve spent some time on one and two week intros at Equinox, and never got a real friendly vibe. But that’s just me. Chances are good you’re joining this club for one part fitness, one part club, and one part pampering.
I don’t know about you, but I’ve always found that a good workout is never about pampering, but about working hard for a more fit body, sweating, and putting your nose to the grind. But hey, if it makes you feel better, cough up the $2 grand per month. Don’t forget the $5k initiation!!
Wow! 2 grand??!?! Are there towel warmers? A full medicine cabinet? I’ve been to the regular equinox in palo alto and am not convinced it’s worth the extra laydown. Biggest features were germaphobic policies that all equipment and yoga mats be sanitized after each use (I felt unhygenic thinking I’d gotten by with the quick wipe off after each use) and the green and orange painted walls. Otherwise, standard equipment and good classes.

GeegeR said it. WOW! 2Grand. Thats nothing compare to my $300 set up and $40 monthly! If i were to pay that much i would expect the extra pampering. I’m talking about haveing someone there to wipe the sweat off my belly in the steam roon

you dont need expensive gyms to get in shape. i workout mostly at home and just buy the basic fitness equipment from online stores like york barbell etc. the money you spend on a good set of weights or treadmills is certainly better value than wasting 100s of pounds / dollars at a gym.cheers
